Stage 5 of the Saint Ignatius College in Drysdale consists of two buildings which house a total of eight classrooms. A slab on ground and steel frame form the structural backbone of the new school wing. The structural steel frame work allows greater flexibility in the partitioning of the building. Operable walls have been specified to take advantage of the flexibility of the partitioned spaces.

Various elements of the building are fixed to the structural steel framework. The aluminium sunshades, which are fixed to the steel frame work, are not only a part of the sustainable design but also a key design feature. This project is exemplary in its integration of sustainable building systems and materials with architectural and structural elements.
